Berytech – ACT Smart Innovation Hub

As the name implies, the ACT Smart (Agri-Food & CleanTech) Innovation Hub is a new out-of-the-box approach by Berytech aimed at strengthening business advancement, economic growth and job creation in the Agri-food and Cleantech sectors in Lebanon.

With generous funding from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and their renewed trust, Berytech is now taking a sector-wide approach for economic growth by stimulating innovators and entrepreneurs to put their creativity and energy at the service of Agri-food and Cleantech sectors and encouraging them to develop local solutions to the environmental and food security challenges faced by the Lebanese and refugee communities.

The ACT Smart Innovation Hub program will run over 36 months from September 2019 to August 2022.

It includes two accelerator programs.

It aims to create 200 direct job opportunities and 400 indirect job opportunities with at least 50% linked to youth and 25% linked to women.

Berytech will work closely with Academia on converting Intellectual Property (IP) into commercialized solutions.

Through the program, Berytech continues its support of QOOT Cluster – Lebanon’s Agri-Food Innovation Hub, supporting its members in their innovation strategies and competitiveness, leading to efficiency and quality exports.

Berytech une organisation de premier plan dans l’éco-système entrepreneurial au Liban, a 3 Développement des affaires et centres d’innovation, les fonds 3, et plusieurs programmes.

Il comprend un certain nombre de structures juridiques à l’appui des start-ups et des PME dans l’économie du savoir.

Berytech fournit un environnement propice à la création et le développement de start-up, par incubation, soutien aux entreprises, le conseil, le financement, la mise en réseau et d’hébergement, d’où prendre part à la relance économique du pays, en participant à la richesse et la création d’emplois, et de retenir les diplômés et compétences salut niveau au Liban.

Au fil des ans, il a été un modèle en matière de gouvernance et a toujours défendu les meilleures pratiques.

Berytech a annoncé mercredi le lancement d’un nouveau programme, l’ACT (acronyme pour Agri-Food et CleanTech) Smart Innovation Hub, cofinancé par l’ambassade des Pays-Bas. Il s’agit d’« une version améliorée et avancée du précédent programme Agritech », a expliqué son PDG, Maroun Chammas.

خلال فترة الأزمات المتعاقبة والصعبة التي نمر بها (تدهور وضع الليرة، الأزمة الاقتصادية، والآن أزمة الكورونا وتداعياتها)، بدأت تظهر في خاطرنا الكثير من الأسئلة الوجودية، ومن أهمها مثلاً: ماذا سوف نفعل إذا انقطع الغذاء والمواد الأساسية من الأسواق؟

وبدأنا أيضا نكتشف كيف أن مدننا اليوم تفتقر إلى الكثير من الموارد الأساسية التي نحتاجها في حال إنهارت خدمات مثل المياه والطاقة وإن تعطلت حركة الشحن والنقل العالمية. وبذلك يتبين لنا وبوضوح أكبر كم أصبحنا معتمدين على مجموعة من العوامل الخارجية لتأمين أساسيات نحتاجها للبقاء على قيد الحياة.

والسبب في ذلك أن مدننا لم تعد مهيئة (كما كانت سابقا) للتعامل مع هذا النوع من الظروف. وذلك ليس لأنه كما هو شائع أن « ليس هنالك تخطيط مديني في لبنان »، فعلى العكس تماما، هنالك تخطيط مديني قوي ونافذ جداً في هذا البلد. المشكلة هو أن هذا التخطيط لا يخدم مصلحة السكان العامة. أهدافه ليست تحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية ومساعدة الفئات الفقيرة، وليست خلق بيئة نظيفة…
