Les changements humains qui s’opèrent dans nos vies ont une incidence parfois plus profonde que certaines contrariétés matérielles. Les effets nous sont évidents aussitôt devant le fait accompli.

Être déçu d’un ami est une chose terrible, mais était-ce vraiment un ami ? L’étions-nous vraiment cet ami pour lui ? L’amitié, la vraie ne peut décevoir, et si elle arrivait, de vrais amis trouveront toujours le moyen de s’expliquer. Si cette amitié devait se terminer, qu’elle le soit en ayant fait la paix, celle de se quitter en appréciant les bons moments et non avec cet arrière-goût d’amertume qui ne fera que perp/tuer rancœur.

Mes vrais amis sont toujours présents dans ma vie…

Premier carnet de route d’Yves Loiseau : Beyrouth

Ancien Grand Reporter à France Inter, Yves Loiseau a couru autour de la Terre, sans la faire pencher mais en se penchant sur elle.
Il y 30 ans il quittait Beyrouth dans des circonstances particulières.
Aujourd’hui, il y revient.

Achrafieh

Achrafieh is a prominent neighborhood of East Beirut.

In the past, when it was hilly farmland, Achrafieh was settled mainly by families of the Greek Orthodox community.

In the process of urbanization, agricultural land became highly prized residential and commercial property, boasting luxurious mansions and prestigious apartment buildings.

Much of the traditional architecture that the civil war did not destroy is now threatened by high rise construction.

It may be a sense of foreboding that moved Giesen to prominently place the poisonous oleander shrub into the foreground of the arcaded windows of this 19th Century home.

Achrafieh (Arabic: الأشرفية‎‎), also spelled Ashrafieh and Ashrafiyeh, is one of the oldest districts of Beirut, Lebanon. It is owned by several Greek Orthodox Christian Beiruti families that had ruled the country and the region for centuries.

IT WAS MYSTICAL

There’s a rare feeling you experience when you are in the presence of magical buildings. It was like a scene from Alice in wonderland transitioning from reality to fantasy. I fell silent, staring awestruck – It was a complex web of emotions from wonder to comfort to enchantment.

We entered through a wooden door that seemed mistakenly placed on the concrete wall buffering the busy street, from the fantasy of what lies behind – the secret garden.

HYPNOTIC

Not knowing where to look, my eyes were bouncing – from the gorgeous gardenia tree, that rose at least one story high floating like a fluffy cloud, to the magnificent curved staircase suspended on a stone arch, with every step up marking my descent further and further into wonderland madness traveling further back in time.
